Registration is now closed for the day and a quick sweep of the room revealed a few more names who took their seats just as time ran out.
Dana Kellstrom, who also played day 1a, is back for another shot at the prize pool today. We’ve also spotted former Mega Millions winner Daniel Strelitz, Michael Rocco and Nick Grippo in the field.
Sometimes its just not your day. Shortly after losing most of his stack when pocket queens out flopped his pocket aces, Grippo got the rest in with pocket aces once again, only to see them fail him for a second time.
We caught up with the action preflop after Grippo had reraised his opponent Takashi Ogura to 5,200. Ogura called and the two saw a flop of Q82. Grippo bet, Ogura moved all in and Grippo called with AA.
Ogura revealed J10 for the straight and flush draw and it immediately came in when the 9 hit the turn. The meaningless river card was the 8 and Grippo quickly packed up his stuff and exited the room. Ogura now sits with 52,000 in chips.
Our current chip leader is none other than Nick Grippo, who you might know better as “Grippolio” or “GripDzNuts.” Grippo came into day 2 as one of the chip leaders and then promptly won a flip against David “Bakes” Baker before coolering Thayer “THAY3R” Rasmussen to increase his stack to over 500,000 in chips.
He is now nearing 600,000 after putting Eric “blizair” Blair to an all in test for his tournament life. Blair opted to save the rest of his chips, but Grippo continues crush despite one of the toughest table draws of the day. Also seated at his table are Gavin Griffin, Allen Kessler and Chad Batista.
Thayer Rasmussen Busts, Nick Grippo Increases Chip Lead

We didn’t catch the action, but we did see Thayer Rasmussen talking to David Baker on the rail.
Apparently, Nick Grippo got the rest of Rasmussen’s stack and now sits at over 400,000 in chips. We’re pretty confident that’s good enough for the chip lead at this point.
We failed to see the action, but we did see Nick Grippo walking away from the table after revealing his outkicked A-Q against Chris DeMaci’s A-K on an ace high board.
