Big Hands
Phil Ivey Climbing
Joe Ward raised to 260,000 from early position and Phil Ivey called from the big blind. The flop came 1096 and both checked. The 9 on the turn prompted Ivey to check again. Ward bet 200,000 and Ivey reraised to 600,000. Ward contemplated for awhile before making the call. The 8 on the river prompted Ivey to bet out 1,000,000. Ward called and Ivey exposed the J9 for trips. Ivey was at 14,890,000 after the hand. Ward was at 2,100,000 after the hand.
Luis Nargentino Eliminated in 29th Place ($253,941)
Ben Lamb raised to 265,000 from middle position, Luis Nargentino called, and so did Phil Ivey in the big blind. The flop came J97 and Ivey checked. Lamb threw out 480,000 prompting Nargentino to move all in for 1,625,000 total. Ivey mucked and Lamb made the call, exposing the AJ. Nargentino was drawing with the A5. The turn was the 6 and the river was the 4, eliminating Nargentino from the tournament late in the day. Lamb has 8,000,000 after the hand.
Jeff Shulman Rises to 11 million
Jonathan Tamayo raised to 260,000 from under the gun. Jeff Shulman and Kevin Schaffel called from the blinds. Three players saw a flop of 772. Shulman and Schaffel checked to the preflop raiser and Tamayo bet 400,000. Shulman called. The 8 fell on the turn and Shulman once again checked. Tamayo checked behind this time and the 6 fell on the river. Shulman checked and so did Tamayo. Shulman exposed pocket jacks with the JJ. He was at 11,000,000 after the hand.
Chip Leader Doubles Up Opponent
On a flop of 865, Jeff Shulman checked and Jon Tamayo bet 510,000. Chip leader Billy Kopp made it 2,000,000 and Shulman folded. Tamayo thought for awhile and moved all in. Kopp made the easy call exposed the A8. Tamayo exposed the KK and the players were off to a race. The turn brought the J and the 10 fell on the river, giving Tamyao the 3,200,000 chip pot and a much needed double up.
Antonio Esfandiari Moves All In
Joseph Cada raised to 250,000 in late position and the small blind (Darvin Moon) made the call. Antonio Esfandiari elected to move all in from the big blind for 1,740,000. Cada folded but Moon went into the tank for minutes. He eventually mucked A-J to Esfandiari.
