We noticed Jim Carroll sitting on a much bigger stack and asked what happened.

According to the table, on a board of Q-J-9-10, with two clubs, Carroll held K2 for a straight with a redraw to a club flush. His opponent, however, held A-K for a better straight.

Carroll needed an ace to chop, or a club to scoop, and the 3 hit the river. He is now stacked with about 650,000.

Paur took his time, counting out the rest of his stack, which appeared to be almost 200,000. Eventually, he bet a little over 40,000. Carroll quickly said he was all-in, and Paur immediately put in the rest of his stack.

Because of hand-for-hand play rules, the players couldn’t reveal their hole cards until the action was complete on the other tables.

“Do you have the flush?” asked Carroll.

“No, he has aces with the ace of diamonds,” replied Mike Dentale, who is also at the table.

Paur gave a wink at Dentale for his read, and once given the okay by the tournament director, he indeed turned over AA for an overpair and the nut flush draw.

Carroll showed 1010, however, for a set, and his hand held as the turn and river fell Q8.

Paur exited the tournament area as the tournament’s official bubble, while the rest of the field is now guaranteed at least $7,106. Carroll now has 920,000 in chips.

With a board of A6473 and a pile of chips in the pot Mark Kehrees moved all-in on the river, pushing over 140,000 into the middle.

Jim Carroll had 110,000 in his stack and was deep in the tank.

“I’m not good enough to get away from this,” said Carroll.

He made the call and revealed the 76 for two pair, and it was good enough to take down the pot worth over 300,000!

Kehrees turned over the AQ and congratulated Carroll on his call.

Blair Hinkle Rivers Quads, Up Over One Million

After being down a tad over two big blinds just a few hours ago, Blair Hinkle has climbed back to over one million.

Hinkle raised to 36,000 from the hijack and Matt Ludlow called from the button. Jim Carroll three-bet to 116,000 from the small blind and Hinkle announced he was all in for 518,000. Ludlow got out of the way and Carroll snap-called.

Hinkle flipped over QQ and Carroll showed AK. Carroll paired his King on the flop but Hinkle picked up a set of Queens when the dealer spread KQ4. Carroll still had outs but the 7 on the turn greatly lessened his chances. Adding insult to injury the river was the Q to give Hinkle Quad-Queens.

“You didn’t have to rub it in, three Queens would have been enough,” Carroll said as Hinkle raked in the pot.

“You’re a short stack Ninja,” Rob Salaburu said from the rail. “Getting some of that Full Tilt money back.”

Quite the Interesting Chop

Both players made a full house, aces over jacks and the pot was chopped. Paxton just missed the double up on the hand.

Marriage Bootcamp Founder Jim Carroll Having Fun

Jim Carroll, Founder of Life Enrichment and Marriage Bootcamp – a website and television series dedicated to improving marriages across the country – is having a fun time with his new tablemates. Carroll recently doubled up Allyn Jaffrey Shulman but then regained a few of the chips in a pot with Shulman and William Journeycake.

“I recently doubled her up,” Carroll told us. “I doubled up Allyn Jaffrey Shulman.”

Shulman was more than happy to receive the chips and the two got into another good natured pot soon after.

Shulman raised to 8,000 from under the gun and Carroll re-raised to 17,000 from the hijack seat. Journeycake called from the small blind and Shulman followed. The flop was 332 and all three checked to the 5 on the turn. Journeycake and Shulman checked again and Carroll fired out a bet of 20,000. His opponents folded and Carroll showed the 3.

“Let everyone know I kicked their asses with a three,” Carroll joked. “But I couldn’t get any action.”

The table has continued to have a good time as the tournament progresses further on on Day 2.
