Introducing Michael Phelps
Oct 20, '08
With 11-time WSOP gold bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth leading as host, 14-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps entered the Fontana Lounge and immediately got the attention of nearly everyone in the room.
As Hellmuth paraded him around, introducing him to several players, Phelps receieved numerous congratulations not only for his summer in Beijing, but also for his ninth-place finish in yesterday's $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at Caesar's Palace.
After telling the same bad beat story one too many times, Phelps turned his attention to others in the room, such as actor James Woods.
A few moments later, Phelps was asked about the possibility of becoming affiliated with a certain poker site. Phelps casually responded that he likes to remain anonymous when he plays because of his tendency to "talk a lot."
So keep an eye out the next time you suck out, because that person berating you in the chat box may be none other than an Olympic champion.
