Mattern Makes ComebackApr 19, '09 With the field shrinking before our very eyes, it seems the mass of Italians and unknowns who made it to day 2 had come as far as they could. However, someone the EPT is very familiar with is Arnaud Mattern (picture right), and he came into the day with a short stack. Within the past hour, he has used his aggressive and threatening presence to turn that into 27,000. He is sitting on a table with Ramzi Jelassi and Joe Elpayaa. In a recent hand, a player in middle position bet 2,500 and Mattern reraised from the hijack to 9,500. Everyone folded and Mattern raked them in. Another player who knows the EPT structure well and is prone to make it quite deep is Nasr El Nasr. It's a clichee but this young man really knows when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. He called a raise of 2,500 in total from the player in the hijack position. Nasr was the big blind, so it was only 1,000 more. The board came K Q 10 and when the hijack bet 3,600, Nasr got out of there fast. He has 45,000 in chips.
