$5,000 No-Limit Hold'em / Six Handed - Level Five RecapJun 26, '08 Note: The payouts have been announced. Seventy-eight players will finish in the money, and the winner will receive $911,855. Blinds-Antes: 150-300-25 Players Remaining: 396 of 805 Average Chip Stack: 20,300 Eliminations: Kenna James Hands and Storylines: Hachem's river bet gets a fold With the board Q54K, Joe Hachem bet 6,000 when his opponent checked to him. Hachem got a call and then the rive was the 2. Hachem's opponent checked and then Hachem all in. He had his opponent, who had about 8,000 left, covered. Hachem's opponent thought for a couple minutes and then finally folded. At that moment Victor Ramdin told Hachem he'd have flopped queens up. Hachem faked disappointment, and then asked his opponent if he'd like to see a card. He said sure, and Hachem showed the 9. Down goes the Dragon David Pham raised and was called by the small blind. On an A-2-2 flop with two clubs the small blind check-raised Pham to 2,000 and was called. A six came on the turn and the blind bet out 3,500 and was again called. The river was an eight and the blind moved all in for 7,625. Pham now thought it over for a minute and saw that he would have less than 2,500 chips if he called and lost. Pham made the call and quickly became disgusted when he saw his opponent's cards -- pocket sixes. The player said he had to see if Pham really had the ace and would not have continued if he didn't catch a six on the turn. Pham was eliminated later in the level. Gale wins with gutsy call On a board of J-5-3-7, John Gale checked and faced a bet of 3,000. He thought for a minute and then called, saying that he needed to see one more card. The river was another seven, putting a third club on the board, and both players checked. Gale flipped over 5-4 and took down the pot. After the hand Gale had roughly 25,000 chips. Level 8 RecapJun 22, '07 Tournament InfoPlayers returned from break at 9 p.mto start level eight. At the end of the level only 114 players remained in the pot-limit hold'em event, including Daniel Alaei, Kenna James, William Thorsson, T.J. Cloutier and Terrence Chan. John Gale was eliminated when his all-in on the turn with A-K received a call from J 9 on a board of 5 2 2 9. Gale did not improve and was eliminated. Non-Cowboy Kenna James A cowboy-hat free Kenna James got involved in an interesting hand. He bet $4,200 on a board of K 9 4 4, and a short stacked opponent appeared to be considering an all-in. Kenna grabbed up the rest of his stack as if to say he was ready to call, and began to move it toward the center of the pot. The other player called the floor to clarify if this action out of turn constituted a binding all-in by James. After being told that it did not, the player went into the tank. A clock was called, bringing some tension to the table. At the end of the countdown he folded Q Q face up, only to have James reveal his Q J for both a flush draw and an inside straight draw. Euro Update Eoghan O’Dea has $28,000 in chips and is unlikely to be thrilled at the recent addition of William Thorson to his table. Thorson has $40,500 in chips. Dave Colclough looks relaxed and has $29,200 while Praz Banzi has $17,000. Carlo Citrone has $33,000 in chips and Michael Keiner has $44,000. Adrian Walsh and Martin Green have been eliminated. The unofficial numbers show 599 total entrants which is pretty close to accurate considering that only a quarter of the room was dedicated to today’s $2,000 No-Limit Hold’em event. Having been crippled in a previous hand, Tran finds himself all-in against another player’s Q 4 with a board of A Q J 3 9. Unable to beat the With only one quadrant of the Amazon Room filled today, it looks like this field will be very close to the 590 from last year. The number of familiar faces are greater per table than in yesterday’s $1,500 no limit field. At least two pros per table is standard. One table of note is Table 10 which houses Joe Hachem, Erica Schoenberg, Matt Hilger, and Gioi Luong. Schoenberg took a pot off of Hachem early on. The two of them saw a limped flop K Q 7 with one other player. The turn came 8, Hachem bet $150, and both Schoenberg and the other player called. The river was the 10, Hachem bet $425, and only Schoenberg called. Schoenberg showed 9 6, and Hachem mucked. They’ve had a fun time at their table as well. When a new dealer sat down, he asked them, “We’re playing Apparently the dealers aren’t the only ones who aren’t paying attention. One player wanted to draw attention to the fact that the player in Seat 1 had won with a walk in the big blind. This is only interesting because Seat 1 had yet to arrive at his table. Somebody should nudge the Player in Seat 10 and wake him up. Another stacked table of note includes Michael Mizrachi, Jon Friedberg, Ralph Perry, Jean Gaspard, and Eric “Rizen” Lynch. Lynch along with John Gale, and Doug Carli will be mapping their progress today in our Pro Blogs. Notable Chip Counts

Early Bust OutsJun 16, '07 A number of notable players have fallen in the first two hours of play. Humberto Brenes, Mike Mizrachi, John Gale, Jared Hamby, Carmel Petresco, and Shannon Elizabeth were all on the way out this past hour. On the way into the Amazon room was Phil Hellmuth, who shook the hands of all his table mates before sitting.Mizrachi was eliminated this level after being short stacked most of the day. With the flop showing Q-10-x, Mizrachi's opponent pushed all in for $975. Mizrachi only had $1,000 left and called with A-Q for top pair. His opponent turned over 10-10 and the board bricked out for Mizrachi. With his last $75 Mizrachi was all in on the next hand with 2-2 up against K-8. An eight spiked on the flop and Mizrachi couldn't catch again and was eliminated. John Gale was unfortunately also eliminated this round. Gale raised to $325 preflop and got only one caller, the player in seat three. The flop came A 5 3. Gale pushed all in and the player in seat three called. Gale was holding A 9, good for top pair. His opponent in the three seat showed A Q for top pair with a better kicker. In a calm, cool manner Gale simply says, "nine." The 9 came on the turn and Gale showed a slight smile. The river was the Q and Gale went from excited to disappointed in a matter of seconds. Padraig Parkinson from Ireland has doubled up before the break and is sitting beside two Irish Americans - Doherty and O'Connor - who is sure are going to bust him out. The players are on a 15 minute break following the completion of level two and cards will be back in the air shortly. HORSE Day Two Plays DownJun 10, '07 Three Horse RaceThree table remained with 25 players as the night got very late at the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E. tournament. Cyndy Violette, David Williams, David Grey, and John D'Agostino had all fallen out of the race during the last hour. Many familiar faces remained, and Robert Mizrachi, David Chiu, Darrel Dicken, Jason Sagle, Tom Schneider, John Gale, and Ali Eslami were all still in the hunt. Barring an extreme slow down in play, the tournament will end at 4 a.m. this morning. The players will then return at 3 p.m. to settle the score tomorrow Chu Busted David Chiu became the twenty-fifth place finisher when he mucked 8 8 (K A 10 9) without tossing over his final down card. His opponent had shown 5 A (A 2 4 7) K. The Destruction of Art Art Adams was the next to hit the rail in twenty-fourth place, he mucked his hand when his opponent made queens full of aces on seventh street to send him packing. Gale Gains Ground John Gale fired out $3,000 on fourth street and his opponent raised to $6,000. On fifth street Gale checked to his opponent and he bet $6,000. This trend continued until seventh street, where both players checked. Gale turned up A 10 (Q 10 A 9) J and his opponent folded his hand. Gale was now up to $120,000. Player Tags: David Chiu, John Gale HORSE RaceJun 10, '07 Down to Six TablesThe H.O.R.S.E. event got down to six tables with 40 players remaining. Bill Edler, Micket Appleman, Daniel Negreanu were all lost along the way. Different Strategies Between hands Ali Eslami and David Grey conversed about the different approaches and finer points one needs to consider when playing in a World Series of Poker event, as opposed to a World Poker Tour event. Grey advocated a very aggressive push around the money bubble of the WPT. Chip Counts Of Note Some familiar faces had chip stacks in the top ten: Darrell Dicken: $113,000 John Gale: $96,000 Jason Sagle: $75,000 Quad Kings Take the High Jason Newell is all in on third street and seat one had made the call. The cards were then dealt: JDN: 2 4 (5 2 4 A) 6 Seat one: 10 K (K 10KK) A The fact that the game was seven card stud 8/OB is the saving grace for Jason, who took the low half of the pot. Gale Scoops With the J 8 A 8 exposed Gale raised to $6,000 after his opponent bet $3,000. Seat one called with 9 2 J K exposed. Gale bet $3,000 on the last down card and seat one called. Gale flipped over 6 5 3 and seat one got scooped when all he could muster was the 8. Seat one was eliminated on the next hand and Gale now had $96,000.
