Freddy Deeb Wins $1 Million at the WPT UltimateBet.com Aruba Poker Classic

Freddy Deeb wins the WPT UltimateBet.com Aruba Poker Classic, earning $1 million and a $25,000 entry into the WPT World Championship next spring. 20-year-old Josh Schlein finishes in second place, earning $440,450. Check out the live updates for a complete rundown of all the action.

Freddy Deeb Wins!

Hand 139 - Freddy Deeb has the button, he limps, and Schlein checks. The flop comes Jh-8d-3h with two hearts, Schlein checks, Deeb bets $100,000, Schlein moves all in, and Deeb calls. Schlein shows J-2 (pair of jacks), but Deeb has J-3 (two pair) for a dominating lead. The turn card is the Qd, and the river card is the Ad. (Deeb actually improves his hand to the nut flush, but his two pair would have been enough.) Josh Schlein is eliminated in second place, earning $440,450.

There will be an UltimateBet.com Awards Ceremony this evening.

Freddy Deeb Doubles Up in Dramatic Fashion

Hand 138 - Josh Schlein has the button, he raises to $300,000, and Deeb reraises all in. Schlein gets up out of his seat and paces a bit, coming back to take a look at Deeb and his chips. He sits back down, and even looks back at the crowd. Schlein calls, showing pocket threes (3h-3s), and Deeb shows Ad-4c. It's a race situation, and Deeb is fortunate to have two overcards. Schlein has the chip advantage at this point, so if he wins this hand, he'll win the tournament.

The flop comes Js-7s-5h, and Schlein is still in the lead. The turn card pairs the board with the 5d, and Schlein is one card away from winning a million dollars. Deeb needs to catch a four, a seven, a jack, or an ace to survive. The river card is the 4h, and Deeb makes a pair of fours to "crack" Schlein's pair of threes. The crowd lets out a moan, before some people erupt into a chant of "Fred-ee! Fred-ee! Fred-ee!"
After the hand, Freddy Deeb has $6,280,000, and a big chip lead over Josh Schlein.

Update on Bikini-Clad Girls

Update on the bikini-clad girls: The bikini-clad women were actually placed on the WPT stage for a very valid reason -- now that the sun is setting, it is creating a horrible glare off the ocean, and the TV cameras are picking it up. So the bikini-clad girls are in position behind the players to block that glare. It certainly doesn't hurt that they're gorgeous, however.
