Chris Ferguson Wins His Second WSOP Circuit Championship

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson wins the WSOP Circuit Championship in Las Vegas, earning $362,088 and a gold-and-diamond ring. This is Ferguson's second victory for the WSOPC, as he won the WSOP Circuit Championship in Rincon last spring. He will be playing in the 2005 Tournament of Champions in November for his Rincon victory, and today's victory already qualifies him for the 2006 Tournament of Champions.

Hand 173 - Chad Layne has the button, he limps, and Ferguson checks. The flop comes Qd-8c-4c, and both players check. The turn card is the As, and they check again. The river card pairs the board with the 8d, Ferguson checks, Layne bets $8,000, and Ferguson calls. Layne shows pocket sixes to win the pot.

Hand 175 - Chad Layne has the button, he raises to $24,000, Ferguson reraises to over $200,000, and they are both quickly all in. Ferguson shows Ad-Jc, and Layne shows As-Kh. This time Ferguson is dominated, and needs to improve.

The flop comes 8h-Js-6d, and Ferguson takes the lead with a pair of jacks. Layne needs to catch a king or something runner-runner to stay alive. The turn card is the 5c, the river card is the 7c, and Chad Layne is eliminated in second place, earning $201,160.
