Will "The Thrill" Failla Wins Event 12 at The Caesar's Palace Classic

After Will Failla limped in from the buttton, the shorstacked Cody Slaubaugh moves all-in preflop only to get snap called by Failla's AQ.  Slaubaugh was behind with 109. The board ran out 853104, giving Slaubaugh top pair and doubling him up to roughly $2,700.

Shortly after that Failla raised to $300 preflop and Slaubaugh called from the blind.  The flop brought the 754 and both players checked.  The turn brought the K and Slaubaugh once again checked. Failla bet $400 and Slaubaugh called.  The river brought the 10 and Slaubaugh pushed all-in, only to once again get snap-called by Failla who quickly turned up the KK for top set.  Slaubaugh slowly turned up the 107 for two pair.  Failla won $30,730 and a commemorative watch. Slaubaugh took him $18,934 for his second place finish.

Cody Slaubaugh Fights Back

The apparent one-sidedness of this match has subsided, at least temporarily, as Cody Slaubaugh has won a couple of pots in a row.  In one hand, Slaubaugh check-raised the flop with bottom pair (threes), both players checked the turn (A), and Slaubaugh bet the river (3) which had given him trip threes.  "It's nice to hit a river!" Slaubaugh exclaimed as he raked in the pot.

In another hand, Slaubaugh check-raised a flop of A75, then bet the turn (T) and got Failla to lay down his hand.

Chip counts forthcoming.

Two Pair Beats Four Hearts

Cody Slaubaugh raises to 175 on his button and Will Fialla calls.  The flop comes J94.  Fiall check-calls 225.  The turn is the 5.  Both players check.  The river is the 6.  Fialla checks, Slaubaugh bets 500, and Fialla quickly calls.  Slaubaugh shows Q7 for no pair.  Fialla shows 96 for two pair and takes the pot.

Will "The Thrill" Failla Up 1-0 Against Slaubaugh

Will "The Thrill" Failla limps in from the button, and Cody Slaubaugh raises to $350.  "Keep it low, dirty and nasty," says Failla as the dealer rolls out the 10109. Both plyers check and the turn brings the K.  Slaugbaugh bets $500 and Failla sloppily. The river brings the A and Slaubaugh quickly pushes in for $2,350. "Thats sick! That is a disaster!" After a moment Failla asks for a count, however, and eventually he makes the call. Slaubaugh reveals the 76 for a complete bluff, and Failla's KJ is enough to collect the pot and take down the first match, putting him up 1-0 in the final round.

The turn brings the Q and Slaubaugh and Slaubaugh bets $1,700 after a moments consideration.  Failla calls and the river brings the J, putting three spades and two pair on the board.  Slaubaugh checks and Failla hesitates before announcing "Flush."  After not hearing anything that would tell him that his flush is no good, Failla revels the A10 and the dealer pushes him the pot.  "Even I couldn't bet that, with that board."
