Updates on Final Day (Apr 21, 14)

Michael Gilligan Eliminated in 6th Place (€38,500)

Michael Gilligan

Michael Gilligan moved all in preflop and was called by Patrick Clarke. Gilligan tabled QClub Suit10Club Suit and had two live cards against Clarke’s AHeart Suit8Spade Suit.

The flop gave Clarke a pair, but Gilligan a draw as the flop came ASpade Suit6Club Suit4Club Suit. The turn didn’t fill Gilligan’s draw with the 5Heart Suit falling on the turn and the JHeart Suit on the river didn’t complete his flush draw either and Gilligan was eliminated in sixth place.

Gilligan’s elimination now leaves Clarke and Dave Pollock as the last two players alive in the Sole Survivor competition.

With the knockout, Clarke has about half the chips in play, sitting with 5,575,000 in chips.

Level 31

The blinds have been increased to 50,000/100,000 with a 10,000 ante.

Thomas O'Shea Doubles Through Patrick Clarke

Thomas O’Shea moved all-in for his last 1 million with AHeart SuitKDiamond Suit and Patrick Clarke called with QHeart SuitQDiamond Suit. The flop fell Qx9Heart Suit5Heart Suit and was of no help to O’Shea. However, an ace on the turn put him in the lead and he held as the board completed 2×.

Barry Donovan Eliminated in 7th Place (€26,500)

Barry Donovan

Barry Donovan got the last of his chips into the middle on a flop of JClub Suit10Club Suit9Club Suit against Patrick Clarke.

Donovan tabled KClub SuitKSpade Suit, giving him an overpair, a straight draw, and a flush draw, but needed to hit a king, queen, or a club against Clarke’s 10Heart Suit10Diamond Suit, giving Clarke middle set.

The turn and river were both bricks as the 3Heart Suit and 4Spade Suit peeled off on the turn and river to send Donovan home in seventh place.

Clarke now has a runaway chip lead with 5.2 million.

Thomas O'Shea Doubles Through Liam Chevalier

Liam Chevalier raised to 130,000 from the cutoff and Thomas O’Shea three-bet all in for his last 305,000 on the button. Chevalier called and the cards were tabled.

Chevalier showed JClub Suit10Club Suit and is slightly behind O’Shea’s AHeart SuitQHeart Suit. The board ran out KSpade SuitQDiamond SuitJDiamond Suit3Diamond Suit5Spade Suit and O’Shea doubles up to just over 700,000.

Jonathan Lundy

Jonathan Lundy moved his last 850,000 into the middle preflop and was called by Patrick Clarke. Everybody else got out of the way and left the other two players heads-up.

Lundy had a great hand, but was in terrible shape with his AClub SuitKSpade Suit up against Clarke’s ASpade SuitAHeart Suit. Lundy never really had a sweat as the dealer peeled off a board of 9Diamond Suit7Spade Suit5Heart Suit8Club Suit3Spade Suit and Lundy was eliminated in eighth place.

That leaves seven native Irishmen at the final table and everybody is guaranteed at least €26,500.
