Updates on Final Day (Apr 10, 06)

Adeeb Harb Wins!

Adeeb Harb held his own against Barry Greenstein to win the $5,000 event.

Harb will take home $380,350 in prize money, a diamond-gold bracelet and has qualified for a seat into the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship event on the 18th.

Barry Greenstein is Runner Up

Big Slick proved to be "fickle" for Greenstein when he raised 50,000 before the flop, in the small blind. Harb called out, "all in" and Greenstein agreed. Greenstein showed Ah-Kd and Harb turned over Ac-6c. The flop dashed several possibilities for Greenstein and gave Harb a two-way advantage by pairing his six and sending him into the turn with a flush draw. The turn finished the match when the 2c fell on the board, leaving Greenstein drawing dead. The meaningless river card was the Jh.

Barry Greenstein is runner up, earning $210,990.

Meanwhile...

There hasn't been a lot of action during this round, though Harb seems to be whittling away at Greenstein. Both players are relaxed and engaged in conversation and seem to be enjoying each other's company. Greenstein has taken a stab at a few small pots, keeping him in action. Harb has pulled even further into the lead, but Greenstein seems to be maintaining.

Seat 1. Barry Greenstein 270,000
Seat 2. Adeeb Harb 1.7 Million

Short Break

Players are on a short break. When they return (at 7pm) the blinds will increase to 8,000-16,000 (3,000 ante)

Here are the approximate chip counts going into the next level.

Seat 2.Barry Greenstein 475,000
Seat 3. Adeeb Harb 1.6 Million

Barry Greenstein Goes in Heads-Up Short-Stacked

Adeeb Harb pulled in a pot worth over a $1 million, sending him into the heads-up match in a dominating position. But Greenstein is in his element and has been known to rally back (even during this tournament) and squelch the competition.

Harb will start with the button.

Kent Washington is Out in 3rd Place ($105,495)

Kent Washington went all in against Adeeb Harb who called. Washington's Ah-7c ran into Harb's pocket jacks (Jd-Jh). "Ooops," said tournament director Jack McClelland as the players showed their hands. Washington would have to spike an ace to outdraw Harb's big pair. The board came 10c-9h-2h, giving Washington a runner flush possibility, but the turn, 8s, and the river, Qh, won Harb the hand, sending Washington to the rail.

Kent Washington is our 3rd place finisher, taking home $105,495.

Down to Three

It's three way action and here are the approximate chip counts.

Seat 1. Kent Washington 470,000
Seat 2. Barry Greenstein 390,000
Seat 3. Adeeb Harb 1.2 Million

We Have a New Chip Leader

Adeeb Harb, on the button, raised to 42,000 before the flop and Magnus Gustavsson called. The flop came 10s-10d-8c and Gustavsson checked. Harb bet 100,000, Gustavsson raised it to 225,000 and Harb went over the top, all in for 292,000 more. Gustavsson thought about it for a while, then folded his hand, awarding a monster pot to Harb and putting him in the chip lead.

Below are the approximate chip counts for the final four.

Seat 1. Kent Washington 520,000
Seat 2. Barry Greenstein 350,000
Seat 3. Adeeb Harb 840,000
Seat 4. Magnus Gustavsson 340,000

Magnus Gustavsson is Out in 4th Place ($57,545)

Kent Washington raised, (in middle position) to 12,000 and Greenstein called, but Adeeb Harb (in the small blind) re-raised to 50,000 and Gustavsson called. Washington and Greenstein folded their hands. The flop came Qd-10c-8d and Harb bet out with 150,000. Gustavsson went all in and Harb called. Harb had Qc-Ks for top pair and Gustavsson had 10d-9d for the flush or straight flush draw. But the turn, 3s and the river, 5s didn't help Gustavsson and Harb picked up another monster pot to put him over the million mark.

Magnus Gustavsson went out in 4th place ($57,545).

Paul Alterman is Out in 5th Place ($43,155)

Kent Washington raised to 110,000 in late position and Paul Alterman called all in. Washington had pocket aces (As-Ad) and Alterman was at a clear disadvantage with the other ace and a small kicker (Ac-5h). The flop came Kc-10s-3d and Alterman would need running fives or deuce-four to make a straight. The turn (4h) gave him a little hope, but the river (9h), sealed the win for Washington.

Paul Alterman went out in 5th place ($43,155).
