The heads-up match involved a lean-to approach by Katja Thater upon Larry St. Jean. His stack dwindled to $250,000, then $200,000, then $150,000. He fought back when he nearly doubled back up to $250,000.
On the final hand with 9 3 5 3 exposed , Thater bet $60,000, and St. Jean raised to $120,000 with 10 5 7 8 exposed. Thater went into the tank and finally made the call. The final cards were dealt and Thater bet $60,000, which induced St. Jean to make an all-in call. Thater flipped over 8 2 4 for a 8-5 low. St. Jean flipped over 5 4 2 for the 8-7 low and he was eliminated in second place. St. Jean took home $73,311 in prize money. Thater won the $1,500 seven card razz event and took home $132,653 in prize money.

Posted: Tue, Jun 19, 07, 2:02 PM
O'Neil Longson has fallen from grace. He came into the day as the chip leader and was crippled on a hand where Larry St. Jean doubled up through him. Longson then moved all in for an additional $1,000 on sixth street and Katja Thater made the call in a hand that had grown a large pot. She turned over 3 2 (Q 4 7 5) for the 7-5 low, while Longson showed an 8-5 low. The final cards were no help to either player and Longson was eliminated in third place. He took home $46,547 in prize money.
Action was now down to heads up and the player took a five minute break.
Mark Vos was eliminated in sixth place and he will take home $18,836 in prize money.
Denny Axel Eliminated in Fifth Place ($24,204)
Katja Thater busted Denny Axel in fifth place and he took home $24,204 in prize money.
Blinds Up
The limits were then kicked up to $15,000-$30,000, with a $3,000 ante. The high card wil now bring it in for $5,000 and it will cost $30,000 to complete.
Dinner Time
The players went on a dinner break at 7 p.m. and they will return to fourhanded play at 8:15 p.m.
Thomas Daubert Eliminated in Eighth Place ($10,743) and Men “The Master” Nguyen Eliminated in Seventh Place ($14,197)
Thomas Daubert moved all in for $14,000 and Katja Thater reraised. Men Nguyen made the all-in call and the cards were then flipped over as follows:
Daubert: A 8 (7 8 6 9) A
Nguyen: A 2 (4 9sJ 10) K
Thater: 5 2 (K 9 8 7) 7
Because he possessed fewer chips Daubert was eliminated in eighth place and he took home $10,743 in prize money. Nguyen was eliminated in seventh place and he took home $14,197 in prize money.
Setting the Scene
The atmosphere at the final table was relatively somber. This mood was set by the current chip leader O’Neil Longson who looked bored and depressed as he propped up his face on his right hand. This was in sharp contrast to Mark Vos who was laughing and generally having a good time as the low man on the totem pole. As the next sequence of events would point out, attitude can be everything.
Vos Doubles Up
Mark Vos was all in with A 6 (2 J 9 8) Q, which was enough to beat the 3 2 (A 10 2 8) Q of his opponent.
Eskimo Clark Makes his Move
Clark had a solid run of hands to take him into the second break, first he doubled through Katja Thater with 5 3 (7 6 2 9) J. The two had raised and reraised the action until Clark was all in on seventh street. Thater exposed 4 3 (Q A 2 8) 9. Clark then tangled in a large pot with Longson. The two players traded bets, checks, and raises until seventh street, where both player checked. Clark turned up K 6 (A 4 3 9) 10, which beat the 10-low of Longson. The pot gave Clark the chip lead with over $300,000.
The players have taken their seats and action has begun at the final table of the $1,500 razz event. Here’s how things look at the final table:
