Updates on Final Day (Jul 03, 05)

Andre Boyer Wins Event #33 ($3,000 No-Limit Hold'em)

Andre Boyer wins Event #33 ($3,000 No-Limit Hold'em), earning $682,810 and a coveted World Series of Poker bracelet. Matt Glantz finishes in second place, earning $364,620.

Andre Boyer is the poker analyst for the TV station RDS (Reseaux Des Sports) in Quebec, Canada, providing commentary for the World Series of Poker when it is broadcast in French. Unfortunately, this event wasn't taped by ESPN, even though it had the second largest prize pool of the World Series so far. That would have created the unique situation where Boyer might be the one commenting as he wins a bracelet!

Andre Boyer Wins Event #33 ($3,000 No-Limit Hold'em)

Hand 247 - Matt Glantz has the button, he raises to $100,000, Boyer reraises to $500,000, Glantz pushes all in, and Boyer calls. Glantz shows pocket deuces (2s-2h), and Boyer has him dominated with pocket sevens (7s-7c). The chip stacks are counted down, and Boyer has $70,000 more in chips, so Glantz is facing potential elimination on this hand. The flop comes As-Kd-3s, and Glantz will need to catch a two or a runner-runner straight to stay alive. The turn card pairs the board with the 3h, and Glantz needs a two to survive (2 outs). The river card is the 10h, and Matt Glantz is eliminated in second place, earning $364,620.

These final two players are seeing a lot of flops, but they are keeping the pots small. Some chips are changing hands, but not in a dramatic fashion.
