As we went to press with this issue of Card Player, we learned of the untimely passing of David "Chip" Reese.

Chip was arguably the greatest all-around cash-game player who ever lived, and was highly respected for not only his skill at the poker table, but for his gentlemanly, first-class demeanor and personality.

While he spent most of his poker career as a cash-game player rather than on the tournament circuit, he held three World Series of Poker gold bracelets, had $2,230,079 in WSOP winnings, and cashed 21 times in WSOP events. His most notable WSOP performance came in 2006 when he captured the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. title, which further validated his credentials as perhaps the greatest all-around poker player ever.

In 1991, at the age of 40, Chip became the youngest person to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

The next issue of Card Player will feature a full-length story honoring this poker legend. In this issue, the three Tournament Hand Matchup situations involve Chip and Andy Bloch in their marathon heads-up battle for the 2006 WSOP $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. gold bracelet.

All of the members of the Card Player family extend our sincere condolences to Chip's family and friends.

Rest in peace, Chip … you were the greatest.
