Currently, through Feb. 28, Commerce Casino is hosting perhaps the largest and most anticipated tournament series in the casino's history. With 35 events, the largest poker room in the United States is offering something for every poker player with its 2009 L.A. Poker Classic. Buy-ins start as low as $300, a number of high-profile championship events have been added, and the casino is offering tons of satellites, and an exciting satellite promotion, to help you take part in the festivities on the cheap.
CardPlayer.com is teaming up with the Commerce to bring you live action from the floor. You can log on between Feb. 15 and Feb. 26 for live hand-by-hand action and daily reports, and to catch videos with all of your favorite pros.
This year, Commerce Casino has added a number of championship events, which are guaranteed to make this tournament series one of the year's most prestigious. New events include $5,000 pot-limit Omaha with a single rebuy (Feb. 15), $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. championship (Feb. 16), $10,000 heads-up championship (Feb. 18), and $5,000 no-limit hold'em (Feb. 19). The Classic culminates with the $10,000 World Poker Tour no-limit hold'em championship, which runs Feb. 21-26, and, as happens every year, is followed by the Celebrity Invitational.
Commerce Casino also is offering a slew of satellites for the series, with single-table satellites running every day from 9 a.m. till midnight. Buy-ins range from $40 to $1,050.
A special supersatellite structure is being offered for the 2009 series. Dubbed The First Step to Millions, these $130 supersatellites run daily at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. They award a $1,050 voucher into the single-table satellites or the mega satellites. The $1,050 mega satellites are running Feb. 13-19 at 7:30 p.m., and on Feb. 20, three additional mega satellites will run at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Commerce Casino is sweetening the pot a bit if anyone happens to hit the trifecta and win a $130 First Step supersatellite, a $1,050 single-table or mega satellite, and the main event. If a player is able to pull that off, Commerce Casino will award a $50,000 bonus and a $10,000 seat into the 2010 WPT main event. If not, the last player standing in the main event who won the first two satellite steps will be awarded a $10,000 seat into next year's championship event.
Last year, Phil Ivey banked more than $1.5 million by winning the L.A. Poker Classic main event. This year, will it be you?
