All of the trademark intensity and prestige that has come to be synonymous with the Card Player Poker Tour will be in full force at Palm Beach County’s only licensed poker room, the Palm Beach Kennel Club (PBKC), starting on December 5.

Just minutes away from the glittering beaches and majestic mansions of Palm Beach is the 64-table poker room of the PBKC, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Known for its innovative and unique offerings of cash-game poker, everything from old-school Florida straight-$2 limit hold’em, to the rarely seen outside of Palm Beach, pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better ($2-$5 blinds), you can find whatever game suits your fancy, while participating in this final CPPT stop for 2013.

The nine-tournament series will be highlighted by the $1,100 no-limit hold’em $250,000 guarantee main event to be held Dec. 13-16. The series will begin with a $345 no-limit hold’em $100,000 guarantee tournament on Dec. 5 and conclude with a $125 no-limit hold’em with bounties tournament Dec. 15. The schedule will also feature a $345 no-limit hold’em $100,000 guarantee, a $135 H.O.R.S.E and a $125 no-limit hold’em turbo, as well as satellites to the main event with buy-ins ranging from $65 to $220.

Poker Room Director Noah Carbone said the card room chose to offer the main event at a more affordable buy-in to accommodate more players.

“We felt that the price point is great for this market and will let someone who maybe typically plays a little smaller to play as well,” said Carbone.

Palm Beach Kennel Club will also offer players additional incentives to attend the series by hosting a Player of the Series leaderboard. The top ten players will split $26,000 upon the completion of the final tournament with $10,000 going to the first-place finisher.

Points will be awarded based on an algorithm that factors in buy-in and field size for all players who play in any of the nine CPPT tournaments and satellites. The second-place finisher will receive $5,000, $3,000 will go to the third-place finisher, and the fourth-place player will take home $2,000. The fifth through tenth-place players will each receive $1,000.

One percent of the total prizepool from each tournament will be held as a contribution to the Player of the Series purse. All players will receive points just for playing in an event and players who finish in the top 10 percent of the field will receive additional points based on final position

In addition to all of the incredible tournament and cash-game action at the Palm Beach Kennel Club, there is always the exciting greyhound racing, just outside the windows of the handsomely appointed tournament area. As an added bonus, the Kennel Club will once again be hosting its annual “23 Days of Christmas” promotion (see sidebar).

Tournament players who happen to find themselves with some free time will love the Palm Beach Kennel Club’s $5-$10 no-limit hold’em game with a $300 max buy-in. This is a cash game that plays like the final table of a tournament! Some players will quickly have seven or eight buy-in stacks in front of them, while others have less than the $300 they started with, while others will be reaching for another $300 bullet. You have to play your stack and your position as much or more than your actual hand. This has to be one of the top action games in the entire country.

Season II of the CPPT kicked off in August of 2013 at bestbet in Jacksonville, Florida. The tour will then stop at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada before returning to Florida in May of 2014 for a second stop at bestbet.

In addition to great poker action, players and visitors can also choose from two restaurants on site for an exceptional dining experience.

The Paddock Restaurant offers a unique combination of fine dining and entertainment where patrons will find an expansive dining room featuring a view of the racing action. The restaurant has been recently renovated and diners will be served meals that have each been cooked to order and made from the best quality foods. Table top televisions are available in addition to overhead monitors and large screen televisions.

The Terrace Restaurant is located near the race track’s second floor and offers sit-down, full-service dining at the finish line with air-conditioned comfort. For diners looking for a lighter fare, the property also boasts a deli and concession stand snacks as well as fully-stocked bars. ♠
