A total of 25 players have made six or more World Poker Tour main event final tables since the WPT first premiered back in 2002. As with several of the tour’s major statistical categories, Darren Elias is the player to beat on this leaderboard.
The all-time WPT titles leader (four wins) and all-time main event cashes leader (47 in-the-money finishes) has made a baker’s dozen official final tables, giving him a healthy lead over the nearest competition. The only major WPT main event leaderboard that the New Jersey pro isn’t at the top of is total earnings, where his $4.6 million is good for fifth place.
Eric Afriat has cashed for $5.8 million during his poker career, of which $3.6 million have come in WPT events. That includes the $1,081,184 he earned for winning the 2014 Hard Rock Poker Showdown and the $651,928 he picked up for taking down the 2018 Borgata Winter Poker Open. He also won the 2020 Fallsview Niagara Falls main event for $383,539 and had runner-up finishes at 2024 Choctaw and the 2019 Hard Rock Poker Showdown.
The Canadian businessman recently finished third in the WPT bestbet Scramble main event for his ninth main event final table. In doing so, the three-time champion put himself into a tie with Phil Ivey for the second-highest final-table total on this list. While Afriat has closed out the win at a third of his final tables, Ivey has come away with only one WPT title, taking down the 2008 WPT L.A. Poker Classic main event for nearly $1.6 million.
Scotty Nguyen stands alone in fourth place with eight final-table showings, having also won the 2006 World Poker Open in Tunica, Mississippi, and there is an elite list of 10 WPT superstars just one final-table finish behind him. Among them are three three-time champions in Anthony Zinno, Brian Altman, and Gus Hansen, as well as several two-time winners like Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren, J.C. Tran, and Michael Mizrachi. David Pham is the only player with seven or more final tables to not come away with a title, although ‘The Dragon’ came close, finishing runner-up at the 2007 Legends of Poker for a career-best score of $800,185. ♠
