Euro Poker Year Review -- September 2010Phil Laak’s British Invasion; Padraig Parkinson Chips In And Out |
|
Player of the Month: Phil Laak bounces back from a near death experience on a dune buggy (and a spell in hospital) with a marvelous World Series of Poker Europe victory in London.
Quote of the Month: Padraig Parkinson tangles with Roberto Romanello on Late Night Poker – “I asked the dealer if she could ask Mr. Romanello to put his big chip out where we could see it. Roberto just laughed and told me that that comment might well come back to haunt me. It did!”
Story of the Month: WSOPE bracelet-winner Sherkhan Farnood has his assets frozen in Afghanistan banking scandal.
Hand of the Month: Marty Smyth is heads up against Sam Trickett in the World Poker Open heat. Trickett, of course, went on to win the entire event – “I reached the heads-up stage out-chipped 2:1 by Sam Trickett. Sam had played great throughout the heat and I felt he probably had a bit of an edge over me. I was far from pot committed when I raised preflop with K-Q and he set me all in but I reckoned it was probably a 50-50 or 60-40 in his favour. I liked those odds better than my odds of trying to win by out-playing him. I managed to win that one when I spiked a K against his A-7, and nearly had the whole thing sewn up a few hands later, when I gambled preflop with 4-4 and was still leading against his K-Q with just the river to come.” Trickett hit a king on the river and went on to win the entire event.
Blog of the Month: PaddyPowerPoker’s Nick Heather plays with Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in Vilamoura.
