Dan CatesAction has been relatively quiet in the high-stakes online world over the past week, which is likely due to the start of the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure on Thursday.

The tournament series kicked off with the $100,000 Super High Roller event. Among the elite group of 38 of the world’s best players sits Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates — the biggest winner online in 2010. Cates, who just recently turned 21, entered day two with a top-five chip stack, but is currently the short stack, with just 15 left, at the time of this article’s release (around 2:30 p.m. EST).

Card Player caught up with the online sensation who is looking to add the $1.5 million first-place prize to his $5 million in profits on the virtual felt from 2010. Check out the video on Card Player TV below, and you can hear the Maryland native talk about the Super High Roller event, as well as the ongoing Durrrr Challenge:

Even with the prestigious PCA underway and the $100,000 event designed for players with the most bloated of bankrolls currently running, there have been some battles online this week.

Phil “OMGClayAIken” Galfond lost about $160,000 to Jared “harrington25” Bleznick in a Wednesday session of $500-$1,000 cap pot-limit Omaha. On Thursday, Galfond was in the red another six-figures, this time losing more than $200,000, most of which went to Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies. Sahamies ended 2010 on a massive downswing, but has started this year on a winning note.
