A gambling sector note published today by analysts Daniel Stewart & Co. says Euro-facing gaming operators Playtech, PartyGaming, and 888 will be the most likely winners should the U.S. market liberalise.

The report predicts licenses for online gambling will be issued in the second half of 2011 or early 2012. “Our view is that online gambling will move ahead whether legislative change happens at Federal or State level or a combination of both,” it declares.

“Poker may be the only product vertical to pass at Federal level, however we believe that individual State’s will legalise online casino and poker at state level, with New Jersey and California leading the way, we believe will cause a tipping point, whereby other state will follow. We expect to see legislative change implemented and licenses granted in 2H11 or early 2012.”

The report recommends Playtech and PartyGaming stock as key buys as “in our view have the greatest chance of landing B2B deals in the US market,” while 888 is recommended as a sell due to outstanding issues with the U.S. department of justice.
