EPT Copenhagen Begins Monday

Swedish Pro Anton Wigg Was Crowned Champion in 2010

Anton Wigg, of Sweden, won the 2010 EPT Copenhagen championship.Fresh off of its January stop in Deauville, France, the PokerStars European Poker Tour is now set to make its return to the felt of Casino Copenhagen. The EPT makes the trip to Denmark every season, and this year’s visit is expected to once again bring in hundreds of players from all over the Nordic region and elsewhere.

Players will be testing themselves in the DKK 37,250 buy-in main event, running Feb. 21-26. Last year, young Swedish pro Anton Wigg survived a field of 422 opponents, beating Italian Francesco de Vivo after four hours of heads-up play to take down the EPT Copenhagen title and earn DKK 3,675,000 (€494,000).

This year’s action gets under way with day 1A starting at noon local time on Monday, Feb. 21. Players will start with 30,000 in chips, and levels will last for 60 minutes on day 1 and 75 minutes on the days that follow. Blinds will start at 50-100. Registration caps at 500 players.

The final table will play out on Saturday, Feb. 26. Aside from the healthy prize money, the winner will also receive a custom bracelet from the official bracelet sponsor of EPT Copenhagen, Shamballa Jewels.

Throughout the duration of the main event, additional hold’em and pot-limit Omaha events will be played as well.
