Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Copenhagen no-limit hold’em main event has come to a close and there are just 73 players left in the hunt for the money. The bubble will burst early tomorrow when just 64 players remain.
A Swede leads the way with 640,000 and he is professional poker player Michael Tureniec. Team PokerStars pro J.P. Kelly is also in the top 10 with 416,000. Other notables still in the hunt include Team PokerStars pros Florian Langmann (271,900) and Johnny Lodden (193,700), Juha Helppi (159,000), Surindar Sunar (151,700), and EPT player of the year leader Fernando Brito (69,200).
The field will whittle down to the final 24 tomorrow and Day 3 begins at noon local time (3 a.m. PT). You can follow along with the action on the PokerStars blog feed throughout the day. Michael Tureniec Chips Up
Michael Turniec’s run to the top of the leader board was given a major boost today when he won a pair of six-figure pots. In the first hand he held pocket sixes in a coin flip that defeated 9 7.
The second windfall came when Tureniec K Q against the pocket nines of an opponent. The board ran out K 10 3 6 4 of and Tureniec rushed out in front of the field after collecting the two pots.
