Hand of the Day:
Andy Whetstone Takes out Two Players to Climb Above 300,000
After a series of bets and raises on a Q 10 8 flop Brady Churches moved all in and Andy Whetstone made the call. Their cards:
Whetstone: 8 8
Churches: A Q
Turn and River: 9 and 7
Whetstone took out Churches and on the very next hand Luke Staudenmaier raised to 14,200 under the gun preflop and Whetstone and Larry Ormson made the call. The flop fell J 6 2 and Ormson bet 6,000. Staudenmaier called all in and Whetstone raised to 20,000.
Ormson made the call and the turn fell 9. Both live players checked the side pot and the river fell 5. Ormson bet 9,000 and Whetstone made the call.
Whetstone revealed pocket fives, which were enough to top the Q and J of Ormson for the side pot. Staudenmaier mucked A 10 faceup and then he exited the tournament area. Whetstone was up to 326,500 after the hand.
