Station Casinos is in the midst of a $1 million guaranteed poker series this month, and the value has been great for players so far.
The no-limit hold’em extravaganza consists of four main events and a championship event, each with a $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. The first event was held at Green Valley Ranch about a week ago, and the $1,100 buy-in event featured a massive $30,000 overlay, as only about 170 players showed up.
Next up this weekend is a tournament at Palace Station. Players can register for “Day 1A” on Saturday at 9 a.m. and “Day 1B” Saturday at 6 p.m. — meaning that players eliminated in the morning or afternoon can buy in again during evening action. Day 2 starts Sunday at 11 a.m.
After the tournament at Palace Station, Sunset Station and Red Rock Resort will host events later this month. Altogether, the top 25 in each qualifying main event automatically win a seat to the $200,000 guaranteed championship on May 24 at Red Rock. In addition, the rest of each respective main event field will be earn points towards qualifying for the championship. The field for the final event will total 120 players.
The main events and championship will all pay 10 percent of the players entered and first place will receive 30 percent of the prize pool. 20 percent of each main event prize pool will be withheld to help fund the championship event.
The $1,100 tournaments provide players with 20,000 in starting chips (blinds begin at 100-200) and 45 minute levels. Satellites for the main events are running now for as low as $85.
