Nevada State Poker Championship Begins Friday

Tournament Series Includes Televised Heartland Poker Tour Main Event and Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Throwdown

Jennifer HarmanThe Nevada State Poker Championship will begin on Friday, May 13 at the Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno, Nevada. The tournament series will include a total of eight events and it will conclude when a champion is crowned in the televised Heartland Poker Tour $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event on May 23.

Qualifiers for the HPT main event will run on Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will be two additional qualifiers on Saturday, May 20 and they will run at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. All qualifiers feature a $330 buy-in and the top 20 percent will advance to the HPT main event.

Another big event that will take place during the tournament series is the $220 Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Throwdown on Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m., and it will benefit the Nevada SPCA. In addition to Harman, other professionals and celebrities who are scheduled to attend include Marco Traniello, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, Trishelle Cannatella, Tiffany Michelle, Samantha Ryan, Lou Diamond Phillips, Shanna Moakler, Ross Powers, Mekhi Phifer, and Carrot Top.

In addition to the two headline events there will be a half dozen no-limit hold’em preliminary events that will feature buy-ins ranging from $120-$225.

Event 1 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 13) — $150 + $20
Event 2 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 13) — $100 + $20
Event 3 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 14) — $200 + $25
Event 4 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 14) — $100 + $20
Event 5 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 15) — $150 + $20
Event 6 – No-Limit Hold’em (May 15) — $100 + $20
