Elimination Match 19 of the Poker Superstars Invitation 3 tournament shown on FSN Sunday featured three players who had to perform exceptionally well to assure themselves a ticket into the second round of 16 players, one player who needed only 1 point, and two others who had already punched their tickets into the second round.

Joe Hachem and Mimi Tran both needed the 10 points that comes with a win, and Cyndy Violette needed at least to finish third to make it into the second round, but none of the players could do what they needed to do and have played their last poker at the PSIT 3.

On the other side of the coin, Barry Greenstein and Daniel Negreanu each had enough points to get through.

Todd Brunson, who took 19 points into his last elimination match, needed only not to be the first player eliminated from the table to advance. Instead, he assumed the role as table boss and bullied his way to a win and earned 10 points. He finished the first round with 29 points.

Hachem took 12 points into this match. A victory would definitely put him through, but his second-place finish put him in a three-way tie with Mike Sexton and Jennifer Harman with 19 points, which will probably be the magic number to make it through. Unfortunately for both Hachem and Harman, Sexton holds the tie breaker and the other two players will probably end up on the outside looking in.

Tran brought 10 points to the match and needed a victory to pass through. She ended up finishing third, earning 5 points and finished the season with 15.

With 24 points, there was no doubt that Negreanu would make it into round two. He finished fourth and added 3 points to his score.

With 16 points, Violette had a great chance to advance, but she was able to muster only 1 point for her fifth-place finish and is out of the tourney. Holding pocket sevens, she moved all in, but Brunson woke up to pocket 10s and also moved all in. The flop helped neither player and that was it for Violette.

Greenstein was the first player eliminated Sunday, but his 27 points is good enough to pass on.

Next week, the last elimination match takes place as Antonio Esfandiari, Freddy Deeb, Gus Hansen, Phil Hellmuth, Chris Moneymaker, and Phil Ivey do battle.

PSIT 3 is shown on FSN every Sunday at 8 p.m. local time. To check out CardPlayer.com's Internet coverage of the series, click here.
