World Poker Tour Hits Malta In September

WPT Stop To Take Advantage European Poker Focus In Early Autumn

The World Poker Tour today announced further details of a new stop on the tour – Portomaso, Malta – from September 20 to 24, 2011.

The €3,000 + €300 buy in main event is expected to prove attractive no just to local Euro pros but the large number of poker pros from around the world making their way to Europe for European Poker Tour London and World Series of Poker Europe.

The event also comes in the aftermath of WPT Paris.

WPT Malta has already confirmed European triple crown winner Jake Cody will attend. Cody said, “I think we showed the strength of UK poker in Vegas this year and with many Europeans doing well, we want to make sure the big titles keep on coming,”

Also attending are WSOP bracelet winner Matt Perrins as well as tournament director Matt Savage.

Adam Pliska, president of the Tour said, “Portomaso in Malta is normally the home of super yachts but for four days in late September it will be home to WPT Malta. This Mediterranean hotspot already has poker in its veins so we hope that by introducing a World Poker Tour stop we will satisfy the desires of locals and the international contingent looking for some late summer sun.”
