Bertrand GrospellierThe World Series of Poker Europe is re-instating the Caesars Cup, a team poker event last held in 2009.

The made-for-TV event sees Team Europe take on Team U.S. at Casino Barrière de Cannes Croisette, Cannes, France on October 19.

Each team will field five players – the U.S captained by Phil Hellmuth, Europe captained by Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier – across various heads up and partnered no-limit hold’em events and will feature non-traditional elements designed to allow teams win points.

The last time the two teams met, Europe, captained by Annette Obrestad, beat Daniel Negreanu’s U.S. team 4-1.

WSOP director Ty Stewart, said, “Team Americas has a score to settle after what most considered a colossal upset in London. You see a real rivalry developing as European players continue to win more tournaments around the world.”

The World Series of Poker Europe moves from London to France this year, taking place from October 7 to October 20 and expanding to seven bracelet events.
