Doyle Brunson Starts Day Two of WSOP Main Event

The Poker Room Erupted in Applause as He Entered

Team BrunsonDay two of the World Series of Poker main event began with a tribute to one of the greatest poker players toPam and Anjela Brunson ever live.

The Rio celebrated Doyle Brunson's 30th appearance in the main event by roping off the center aisle of the Amazon Room and lining it with associates from DoylesRoom.com. They then had friends and family walk down the row, including Dewey Tomko, Billy Baxter, daughter Pam Brunson, Todd Brunson's wife Anjela, and Mike Caro.

The whole room erupted with applause as Doyle made his way to the middle of the room, where Todd Brunson was waiting to welcome his dad to the event.

Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP, announced that today's flight was dedicated to Brunson. A four-foot sheet cake lettered with "Harrah's and the Rio congratulate Doyle Brunson on the 30th Anniversary of the WSOP" was also presented.30th Anniversary Cake

Jeffrey PollackBrunson then took the microphone and started the day with "shuffle up and deal" before being escorted to his seat.

It's been quite a week for Doyle Brunson. Thursday, hundreds of people showed up at the Monet Room in the Bellagio to help roast "the Godfather of poker." The roast was hosted by comedian Brad Garrett. To read about the event, click here.

The second day features plenty of big-named pros. Brunson joined Mike Caro, David "Devilfish" Ulliott, Phil Ivey, Card Player owner and CEO Barry Shulman, Allen Cunningham, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, David Grey, David Singer, Chris Ferguson, Gavin Smith, Tim Phan, Evelyn Ng, and many others.
