Asian Poker Tour Goa Main Event Starts Today

India Gets A Visit From Its First International Poker Tour; Main Event Kicks Off

Phil Sanders with APT CEO Jeff MannIndia is currently witnessing its first international poker tour with the Asian Poker Tour’s visit to India’s largest casino vessel, the Casino Royale. The Tour hit Goa, India for the first time ever on Nov. 8 and action now heightens as the INR 50,000 (Eur 731) buy-in main event kicks off today with all play wrapping up on Nov. 14.

The no-limit hold’em main event features two starting days with re-entry from day 1A to day 1B only. Players will sit down to 15,000 in chips with 45-minute blinds. The champion for this debut event will be crowned on Nov. 14.

The INR 5,000 no-limit hold’em opening event of the Goa leg was won by Phil Sanders who beat 88 opponents to the INR 136,200 (Eur 1,991) top prize. Sanders also went on to win the INR 250,000 (Eur 3,656) buy-in High Roller event for his second title of the series, adding INR 1,235,000 (Eur 18,064) to his winnings.

Other winners include Amit Varma who won the INR 15,000 Head Hunter event after topping a field of 75, and Aditya “Mastermind” Argarwal who outlasted 77 opponents in a INR 10,000 no-limit hold’em side event.
