Amon the 45 players left in the battle for the main event bracelet and the $12 million first prize, is an online underdog who has made a big name for himself with his impressive Internet showings.
One of the last big Internet players to make his mark on this year's WSOP main event is Eric "Rizen" Lynch, one of PokerStar's biggest online players. In addition to conquering the virtual felt, Lynch is also a poker blogger who has found an audience of fans thanks to his interesting playing style and undisputable results.
Lynch is no stranger to top-flight play, as he recently won the PokerStars Sunday Million and scored another top cash when he finished third in the 2006 World Series of Poker's $1,500 pot-limit hold'em event. Lynch, who hails from Kansas City, Kansas, also has a considerable poker portfolio of online finishes that document the 27-year-old software engineer's path to success.
Although Lynch has found success at the tables, he continues to impress away from them as well. According to PokerStars blogger and tournament reporter, Brad "Otis" Willis, Lynch does more than just win tournaments. "I've long been a big poker blog reader. Many of the blogs are for regular working stiffs like me who like to play poker. Rizen, however, has found a way to pull me into a world that is far beyond what my abilities allow," wrote Willis in a recent post.
With a talent both at the tables and behind the keyboard, Lynch continues to impress fans attending the WSOP main event and fans sitting behind their computers following all of the action. Although he is soft-spoken and relatively reserved, Lynch's play continues to command the remaining field's respect and he does it with class by not screaming and yelling for the ESPN cameras.
