It’s been a lively week in the poker twittersphere with the news that Federated Sports + Gaming, owner of the Epic Poker League, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Doyle Brunson (@TexDolly) tweeted, “Looks like I outlasted another “lifetime membership”. Just kidding, I feel bad Epic Poker is having problems. Poker needs a success story:-(“

The increasingly controversial Daniel Negreanu (RealKidPoker) predicted the league’s demise from a long way out tweeting, “WriterJen @zekday0 sorry for those that lost jobs, but from day 1 I warned all that the gig couldn’t last long.”

Jen Newell (@WriterJen) responded saying, “That company paid better & treated better than any poker entity ever had. Your “sorry, I told ya so” doesn’t help us.”

To which Negreanu replied, “You won’t hear any “I told you so’s” but you will hear further warnings about trusting shady people with shady pasts.”

Elsewhere Negreanu was confirmed as a participant at this year’s Irish Open along with a nother couple of big names. Agent Brian Balsbaugh tweeted, “Clients @RealKidPoker @Phil_Hellmuth @EdogPoker participating in the @PaddyPower Irish Open next month- more announcements to follow”

Meanwhile over in Denmark, American Steve O’Dwyer won the WPT National Series Denmark.

Scott Seiver (@scottseiver) tweeted, “Huge congratulations to @steveodwyer He’s on a @JasonMercier level European run right now.”

Indeed O’Dwyer has come second at WPT Venice, second at EPT/UKIPT London and made a WSOPE final table in the last five months earning close to $1 million before his 893,960 kroner (€120,000) payday in Denmark.

Doyle Brunson (@TexDolly) chimed in saying, “You are right. I played with Odwyer in London and he impressed me, which is pretty hard to do.”
