Poker Strategy -- Introduction To Independent Chip Model With Yevgeniy Timoshenko and David SandsWhere And When To Apply ICM |
|
The Independent Chip Model, commonly referred to as ICM, is best understood by what it does, which is to assign a dollar value to your chip stack in a tournament, based on the amount of chips in play and the prize pool distribution. ICM is used in a tournament by determining the probability of finishing in each position and then multiplying by the prize amount for each position and adding those numbers together to determine a player’s overall equity.
In this edition of Poker Strategy, Card Player TV catches up with two of tournament poker’s biggest stars, Yevgeniy Timoshenko and David Sands, to get an introduction to how ICM affects play in tournament poker.
