Score one for Italy. Rocco Palumbo became the sixth Italian World Series of Poker bracelet winner in history after taking down event no. 44, the $1,000 no-limit hold’em tournament.
The 23-year-old from Genoa outlasted a field of 2,949 over three day, banking $464,464 and 1,200 Card Player Player of the Year points. He joins Jeff Lisandro, Max Pescatori, Dario Alioto, Dario Minieri and Valter Farina as Italian WSOP winners.
In 2011, he final tabled the EPT San Remo main event, finishing in seventh place for $134,625. Palumbo now has $719,000 in career live tournament earnings.
Nelson Robinson, from Winston Salem, North Carolina, finished runner-up, pocketing $288,448.
