In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. CALIFORNIA
- The 2012 WPT Legends of Poker (Jul. 28, ‘12 – Aug. 29, ’12) The Bicycle Casino’s 37-event Legend of Poker tournament series comes to close this week in Bell Gardens, California, with the $3,700 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker main event finishing things off in a big way. The main event begins on August 24th and will continue until a new WPT champion is determined on Aug. 29th.
- The 2012 Bay 101 Open (Aug 20, ‘12 – Aug 27, ’12) The Bay 101 Casino in San Jose is playing host to a seven-event series kicking off on August 20th. The highlight of the week will be the $1,040 no-limit hold’em championship event that begins on Aug. 24th and continues until a champion is decided on August 26th.
- The $100,000 Guaranteed No-Limit Hold’em Tournament (Aug 20, ‘12 – Aug 23, ’12) The Hawaiian Gardens Casino is putting on a $115 buy-in, $100,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em re-entry event with five starting flights that kicks off on Aug. 20th and crowns a winner on the 23rd.
SOUTH
- The 2012 Blast to the Past Poker Tournament (Aug 20, ’12 – Aug 26, ’12) The Cherokee Casino & Hotel West Siloam Springs in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma has an eight-event series of tournaments kicking off on August 20th, featuring a number of affordable buy-in events. The highlight of the week will be the $330 main event that takes place on the 26th.
- The 2012 Gulf Coast Poker Championship (Aug 23, ‘12 – Sep 03, ’12) The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi kicks off its 15-event series on the 23rd. The first week’s highlights include the $340 single re-entry event that kicks the series off and a $230 re-entry pot-limit Omaha event that begins on the 26th.
CANADA
- The 2012 Canadian Open Poker Championships (Aug 22, ‘12 – Sep 02, ’12) The Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Canada has its 10-event Canadian Open Poker Championships series kicking off on August 22nd. This week’s highlights include two Card Player Player of the Year qualified events, the three-day $550 no-limit hold’em kickoff event on the 22nd and a $1,100 no-limit hold’em event that begins on the 25th. The following week has a number of notable events as well, including the $5,000 no-limit hold’em heads-up championship that begins on the 27th.
FLORIDA
- The 2012 Jacksonville Summer Series (Aug 24, ‘12 – Sep 09, ’12) The BestBet Jacksonville has a 17-event series beginning on August 24th. This week is highlighted by the three-day $230 no-limit hold’em kickoff event.
MIDWEST
- The 2012 Twin Cities Poker Open (Aug 26, ‘12) The Canterbury Park Racetrack & Card Club in Shakopee, Minnesota will play host to a $1,100 no-limit hold’em main event kicking off on August 26t at 10:30 AM and continuing until a champion is crowned later that day.
