Sam Trickett’s sponsorship deal with Matchbook.com has come to an end.
The online betting exchange said the arrangement had been mutually concluded after the objectives of both parties had been reached when Trickett came second in the $1 million buy in Big Drop for One Drop at this year’s World Series of Poker for $10 million.
“We have long believed that Sam is one of the best poker players in the world, and his success over the last two years is well deserved,” the company said. “We have been honoured to have Sam as the face of the Matchbook Poker team in which his results were nothing short of phenomenal. Sam is a huge asset for any brand, and we fully expect him to secure a sponsorship deal with one of the biggest dedicated poker sites around.”
Trickett added “I’m extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to compete in the biggest tournament in this history of poker and it was an experience that will live for me forever.”
Matchbook.com also confirmed it was involved in the making of a documentary charting Trickett’s rise which will be shown on UK TV later this year.
“It’s been a lot of fun filming this and I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome myself,” said Trickett who recently signed up as an ambassador for the International Stadiums Poker Tour.
