English Poker Open Main Event Starts

Up To 300 Players Expected For £2,180 Buy in Main Event In London

Credit: English Poker OpenThe English Poker Open (EPO) £2,000 + £180 main event begins on today, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. (local time) at the Fox Poker Club in the West End of London, and will run until Friday, Sept. 21 when the 2012 champion will be crowned.

There will be two starting days and players will sit down to a stack of 20,000 in chips and blind levels of 60 minutes in length. Nine levels will be played on day 1A and 1B, and on the fourth day of play action will continue through the final table of nine to the last player standing.

There will be a live web cast as players battle for the upper planes of the £250,000 guaranteed prize pool. The maximum number of players is capped at 300 and featured in there are some names from poker’s elite; from World Series of Poker bracelet winners such as Praz Bansi and James Dempsey, World Poker Tour champ Surinder Sunar, WSOP and WSOP Europe main event finalist James Akenhead, to Irish Open victor James Mitchell, and the English Poker Open 2010 winner Fabian Quoss.

Quoss topped a field of 193 at London’s Palm Beach Casino in 2010 for the top prize of £220,650 in the £3,500 buy-in EPO main event.
