Other Major Online Tournaments Continue Relatively Unscathed in Wake of WCOOP Finale

Even with the World Championship of Online Poker main event running in the background, the three other major online tournaments managed to hold their own. Party Poker's Sunday Million Guaranteed tournament and Full Tilt's $250,000 guaranteed event both surpassed their entry quotas to avoid an overlay, but just barely. Party Poker had 5,060 entrants to bring the prize pool to $1,012,000 while Full Tilt enticed 1,279 players to amass $255,800 for its prize pool. Ultimate Bet's $200,000 guaranteed tournament continued to lag this week, only getting 820 entrants, requiring the site to overlay $36,000.

Party Poker Sunday Million Guaranteed

Party Poker squeaked by with just $12,000 over its guarantee, still admirable considering all of the hullabaloo over the WCOOP running simultaneously. The final 10 players took their seats at around 9:30 p.m. PDT and it was only minutes before the first elimination, as pokerMan505 hit the rails against DwightSchrute's trip nines. PokerMan505 took home $5,060 for his 10th-place finish.

The next hand was a classic race as MagicMarker3 got all of his chips in preflop with pocket queens versus doublmeup1's Aclub Kdiamond. Doublmeup1 ended up turning a king to take the lead from MagicMarker3 and take down the pot. MagicMarker3 earned $10,120 for ninth place.

Okla_State21 found out he'd made a very bad decision when TipTripTrap showed him pocket aces after his preflop all-in raise. Okla_State21 held only Jdiamond 8spade and was in very bad shape. The board completely missed him and he was eliminated in eighth ($15,180).

TipTripTrap won another key hand to put him even further into the lead when he eliminated doublmeup1. After some aggressive betting throughout, doublmeup1 pushed all in on a board showing Qspade Jheart 9spade 6club. TipTripTrap instantly called and showed Kdiamond 10club for the mortal nuts. doublmeup1 flipped up Aheart Jclub for a pair of jacks and was drawing dead. Doublmeup1 was sent to the virtual rail in seventh with $20,240.

DwightSchrute, a reference to the US version of The Office, began to complain that he was playing very weakly and that he should loosen up his game. He followed his own advice as he called ZMAN01's preflop all in with his pocket jacks. ZMAN01 showed a suited big slick, Aspade Kspade, but he failed to connect with the board to overcome DwightSchrute's jacks and he was sent packing in sixth for $27,830.

ThePope7979 collected two huge pots to put his stack very close to the chip lead, still held by TipTripTrap. First, ThePope7979 pushed all in on a board showing 9spade 7diamond 5club 3diamond and was called by TipTripTrap. TipTripTrap showed Kdiamond 5diamond for thrid pair and a flush draw and ThePope7979 flipped up 9club 7club for top two pair. The two pair held up and ThePope7979 doubled through TipTripTrap.

ThePope7979 rode his momentum into the next elimination hand. Poly__Baller was all in preflop against ThePope7979 and showed pocket sevens. ThePope7979 was slightly behind with his Kheart Qheart. A king came on the turn to shatter Poly__Baller's dreams and eliminate him in fifth ($35,420).

DwightSchrute got lucky when he moved all in preflop with 5heart 2heart and was called by G_Becks with pocket sevens. The luck came when the flop spiked two fives for DwightSchrute to give him trips. He doubled up through G_Becks, but would end up transfering his chips to TipTripTrap only moments later. DwightSchrute got all of his chips in on the river against TipTripTrap on a board showing Adiamond Kheart 3club 7spade 7heart. DwightSchrute showed 8diamond 7diamond for trip sevens, but TipTripTrap flipped up a monster with pocket aces for a full house. DwightSchrute received $43,010 for his fourth-place finish.

G_Becks was next to go when he pushed all in preflop and was called by, who else?, TipTripTrap. G_Becks showed Adiamond Qclub and TipTripTrap flipped up pocket jacks. The board improved neither player and TipTripTrap raked in the pot to eliminate G_Becks in third ($53,130).

It was now ThePope7979 and TipTripTrap heads up. Normally Party Poker final tables end early after a deal has been struck, but this final table never even entered negotiations and the final two did not bring it up. The heads-up match did not last long as ThePope7979 pushed all in preflop and was called by TipTripTrap. TipTripTrap flipped up pocket nines against ThePope7979's Aheart 6heart. The flop gave TipTripTrap a set of nines, but also put a precarious flush draw on the board for ThePope7979. However, no flush came and ThePope7979 was eliminated in second for $85,615.50. TipTripTrap raked in $156,860 for his win in the event.

The final standings are:

TipTripTrap - $156,860
ThePope7979 - $85,615.20
G_Becks - $53,130
DwightSchrute - $43,010
Poly__Baller - $35,420
ZMA01 - $27,830
doublmeup1 - $20,240

MagicMarker3 - $10,120
pokerMan505 - $5,060

Full Tilt $250,000 Guaranteed

While the Poker Stars WCOOP was alive with star power this weekend, the Full Tilt tournament severely lacked it. No red-named Full Tilt team members made it within the 117 paid places for the event. In fact, the deepest red name was Stuart Paterson in 398th. Still, the Full Tilt tourney stood up admirably to the WCOOP behemoth by gathering more people than needed to meet its guarantee.

The final table lasted over an hour-and-a-half until only marinersjj and SleimanM were left standing. Marinersjj was severely crippled when his Adiamond 8diamond ran into SleimanM's Aclub Jclub and an ace came on the flop. The final hand came just a minute later when marinersjj pushed all in preflop and was called. Marinersjj showed 9heart 8heart and was up against SleimanM's Aheart Qclub. SleimanM hit a queen on the flop to further his lead and the turn and river bricked out to eliminate marinersjj in second. SleimanM took home $56,276 for his win.

The final standings are:

SleimanM - $56,276
marinersjj - $35,812
Optimization - $26,347.40
BrooDogg - $20,783.75
The_Dean221 - $15,987.50
olvisen - $11,511
dapalma150 - $7,674
sportsrecord - $5,755.50
YSP All In - $4,092.80

Ultimate Bet $200,000 Guaranteed

The Ultimate Bet tournament was the lackluster event again this weekend, but still offered a very worthwhile $200,000 prize pool with a $36,000 overlay. One thing's for sure, Ultimate Bet is where you get the most bang for your buck. Internet poker star foshio made it into the money in the event, finishing 49th place for a $700 payday.

The event only took just over 7 hours to complete, an hour-and-a-half of which comprised the final table action. Pwnasaurus and AawwNuts let the way into the final table in first and second, respectively. They eventually eliminated the rest of the field and remained first and second going into heads-up play. AawwNuts finally uttered his own name when he pushed all in on a flop of Jclub 8club 3club and saw Pwnasaurus' flopped flush. AawwNuts' top pair failed to improve on the turn or river and he was eliminated in second. Pwnasaurus certainly did pwn the field as he took down the tournament for a $45,000 payday.

The final standings are:

Pwnasaurus - $45,000
AawwNuts - $27,000
MAkAVELI-37 - $18,500
The-Toilet - $13,000
Nine to Five - $11,000
OneRoundEye - $9,000
jdepa01 - $7,000
pickledpapaya - $5,000
blatz06 - $3,500
UmoNumo - $2,000
