Reports surfaced Tuesday that beleaguered Zynga Inc. has laid off a significant chunk of its workforce.

According to Engadget, firings occurred at a handful of its offices around the country.

The company’s stock price has also fallen to about $2.20 per share.

There has been much speculation that the firm is holding out hope for real-money online gambling being legalized in the United States.
