Gross winning revenue for poker at Unibet plc jumped eight percent in the third quarter of 2012 to £3.36 million from £3.1 million a year earlier.

However it was the slowest quarter of 2012 so far for the online gaming operator’s online poker business with revenue down 4.2 percent on the previous quarter. Poker’s contribution to gross winning revenue at Unibet has remained steady at eight percent for one year now.

In its interim statement the company said, “During a traditionally low period of the year for poker, Unibet Poker managed to buck the trend and continue in a positive fashion. A good influx of operators to the Microgaming network during the autumn will result in a good increase of liquidity and serve to be an added catalyst for Unibet poker’s growth going into the fourth quarter and next year.”

Overall the company, which also offers sports betting and casino products, saw profits from operations fall 55 percent to £4.5 million from £8.2 million in the third quarter of 2011.
