Daniel NegreanuThree-handed play the 2012 World Series of Poker main event final table lasted over 11 hours, and many fans and players alike thought that this marathon stretch was exacerbated by excessive tanking, sparking a discussion about instituting a shot clock in poker.

Daniel Negreanu has emerged as a main champion of the cause, and Card Player TV caught up with him recently to find out how he plans to go about fighting gratuitous tanking. Negreanu explained that it’s up to the players to reverse the trend.

“It’s within our rights as players to police the game,” Negreanu said. “If I’m at the table with players that are tanking, I have the right to call the clock on them anytime I feel that they are taking an unreasonable amount of time.”
