Phil Hellmuth wins his 12th WSOP bracelet

French rapper Bruno “Kool Shen” Lopez won his second major title of 2012 with victory in the World Poker Tour National Cannes while across the Atlantic British poker player Marcus Bebb-Jones pleads not guilty to murdering his wife in las Vegas.

Hostilities break out between the Microgaming Poker Network and 5050poker. The site blames the network for its woes then gets suspended by its regulator.

Betfair, Sportingbet and bwin.party are awarded Spanish licenses and online casino and poker room Purple Lounge files for liquidation.

In Las Vegas the World Series of Poker gets underway in earnest. Among the bracelet winners are:
