Marvin Rettenmaier Wins European Player of the Year

German Poker Pro Lifts Card Player Euro Player of the Year Titles With Four Major Victories in 2012

Marvin RettenmaierMarvin Rettenmaier from Germany has won the Card Player European Player of the Year title taking 4,130 points over the course of 2012 – good enough for third in the overall standings behind winner Greg Merson and runner up Dan Smith.

Rettenmaier, who won four events in 2012 including a World Poker Tour title and cashed in 18 tournaments, was chased home for the Euro title by his fellow countryman Ole Schemion who finished with a late surge after victory at the Amsterdam Master Classics.

The Partouche Poker Tour grand final winner came fifth in the overall rankings with 3,676 points.

The pair earned $2.4 million and $2 million respectively.

Belarusian Vadzim Kursevich finished as the third European Player of the Year with five cashes including an European Poker Tour main event win in Deauville, a World Series of Poker final table and an EPT High Roller final table.

He earned $1.4 million in 2012.

The fourth placed European was Davidi Kitai from Belgium who managed seven cashes including victory in the EPT Berlin main event, a WSOP and WPT final table for $1.1 million.
