Marvin Rettenmaier from Germany has won the Card Player European Player of the Year title taking 4,130 points over the course of 2012 – good enough for third in the overall standings behind winner Greg Merson and runner up Dan Smith.
Rettenmaier, who won four events in 2012 including a World Poker Tour title and cashed in 18 tournaments, was chased home for the Euro title by his fellow countryman Ole Schemion who finished with a late surge after victory at the Amsterdam Master Classics.
The Partouche Poker Tour grand final winner came fifth in the overall rankings with 3,676 points.
The pair earned $2.4 million and $2 million respectively.
Belarusian Vadzim Kursevich finished as the third European Player of the Year with five cashes including an European Poker Tour main event win in Deauville, a World Series of Poker final table and an EPT High Roller final table.
He earned $1.4 million in 2012.
The fourth placed European was Davidi Kitai from Belgium who managed seven cashes including victory in the EPT Berlin main event, a WSOP and WPT final table for $1.1 million.
