According to the Star Gazette, news came this week that casino construction in the Empire State would not come to counties just north of New York City.

According to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s recent budget proposal, he expects $150 million in revenue from casinos in 2016. Seven casinos altogether would be in the pipeline, but the first phase would just be three. The decision on where to put them hasn’t yet been made.

The possibility of one in New York City has also been eliminated, at least for now, as the goal appears to be to place the first round somewhere upstate.

New York currently has nine commercial racinos, but they reportedly could eventually offer table games. The state is also home to numerous Indian gambling properties.
