The first two months of this year yielded $417,529,100 in casino win for Atlantic City’s 12 casinos — a 13-percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
The drop was despite the addition of Revel, the city’s most expensive casino ever. Just last month the property said it will be seeking Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The property collected $9 million from gamblers in February, which was third worst in the city.
In terms of the worst individual fall, Trump Plaza collected $10.1 million in casino win between January and February 2013 — a 41.3-percent drop compared to last year. The casino recently sold for just $20 million, lowest ever for an Atlantic City gambling joint.
February 2012 had 29 days.
Atlantic City has been slumping since 2006. Some are hoping that the recent legalization of Internet gambling can turn fortunes around.
