After topping a field of 542 players at the 2013 World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown, Kevin Eyster has earned his first major live tournament title and a hefty prize of $660,395.
Eyster, who made a name for himself as an online player, more than doubled his career live tournament earnings to nearly $1.2 million. His previous best finish was last month when he took second in the WSOP Circuit main event at the Lodge Casino in Colorado for $85,852.
His latest score earned him 1,680 Card Player Player of the Year points and when combined with the 600 he earned last month, gives him 2,280 total points, good enough for third place overall.
To pick up the title, Eyster had to get through a stacked final table that included Faraz Jaka (9th), Jeff Madsen (6th), Zo Karim (3rd) and Ben Tarzia (2nd). Other notables that made the money included Dan O’Brien (47th), Shaun Deeb (41st), Joe Serock (40th), Paul Volpe (27th), Matt Giannetti (20th) and Matt Salsberg (13th).
