Marcus Bebb-Jones, the sometime British poker player, has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for killing his wife.

Earlier this year Bebb-Jones pleaded guilty to the charge in Colorado where some of his wife’s remains were found. The couple had been on a day trip away from the hotel which they managed in Grand Junction 16 years ago when the killing took place.

The former Grosvenor Grand Prix champion then went on a spending spree in Las Vegas and apparently tried to kill himself before returning to Britain where he became a regular on the poker scene.

It took two years to extradite Bebb-Jones to the U.S. where he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder to avoid the death sentence and was instead handed down 20 years from a possible 32 available for the crime.
