Timothy MilesWith Season II of the Card Player Poker Tour underway Harvey Vandeven and Timothy Miles have taken over the leaderboard as the top earners on the season after the completion of the first stop at bestbet Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida.

Vandeven and Miles made an even chop for the money during their heads-up match in the bestbet Jacksonville $1,500 no-limit hold’em $300,000 guarantee main event Sept. 9 for $76,598 each and are currently tied for the top spot on the leaderboard. The deal stipulated Vandeven, who held a nearly three to one chiplead over Miles when the chop was made, would also receive the official title, winners trophy and the bulk of the Player of the Year points.

With only one stop of Season II complete multiple players are tied for the most final tables, titles and cashes on the season. Jesus Muniz-Diaz currently leads with two titles and was the only player to win more than one event at bestbet. Muniz-Diaz won event no. 12: $240 all-in or fold with bounties for $1,900 and event no. 6: $240 no-limit hold’em for $3,470. A chop for the title prevented Muniz-Diaz from taking home the trophy in event no. 6, which went to Richard Hartert along with $3,000 in winnings.

Moses Clepper and Pablo Ortiz are tied for the most cashes with three each. Clepper cashed out for $2,000 in event no. 10: $240 no-limit hold’em turbo, $1,392 in event no. 5: $350 no-limit hold’em with bounties and $507 in event no. 4: $240 no-limit hold’em. Ortiz picked up $11,000 in event no. 1: $350 no-limit hold’em $100,00 guarantee, $3,000 from event no. 6: $240 no-limit hold’em and $3,098 from the main event.

At least ten players made two final tables at bestbet Jacksonville, resulting in a 10-way tie on the leaderboard.

When Season I of the CPPT wrapped up at Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma Aug. 13 Allyn Jaffrey Shulman was the top earner on the season with $303,309. Shulman’s CPPT Venetian $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event win in July of 2013 gave her $292,966 on the season and was enough to bring her to the top of the leaderboard, ahead of Season I no. 2 money winner Ray Dehkharghani, who took home $235,931 for winning the CPPT Wynn Classic $5,000 main event. Shulman widened the gap in the earnings when she finished 19th in the CPPT Choctaw $1,500 no-limit hold’me main event, adding an additional $9,343 to her name.

Mohammad Abedi-AraniMohammad Abedi-Arani, who took down the 2013 Choctaw $1,500 no-limit hold’em main event for $220,626 finished Season I third on the money list and Alex Condon, who finished second to Shulman at the Venetian for $181,278, was fourth on the list.

Maxx Dansky finished the season fifth on the money leaderboard with $172,632, the bulk of it coming from his 2012 CPPT Choctaw $1,000 no-limit hold’em main event win for $152,008. Dansky’s name appeared multiple times on the Season I leaderboard, coming in at the top for most final tables and most cashes as well.

Dansky, along with Michael Hack and Sebastian Tejada, finished Season I in a three-way tie for the most cashes at seven. Season I most final tables ended with a three-way tie between Dansky, Jesse McVicker and Pawan Braich at five.

Braich picked up four titles on the season, the most of any player. Braich’s four wins came from the CPPT Venetian in event no. 197: $400 no-limit hold’em survivor, event no. 187: $600 no-limit hold’em survivor, event no. 177: $400 no-limit hold’em survivor and event no 174: $200 no-limit hold’em.

The second stop of Season II will be at Palm Beach Kennel Club in West Palm Beach, Florida in December of 2013 culminating with a $1,100 no-limit hold’em main event that will further shake up the Season II leaderboard.
