Poker buddies Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak saw the pilot episode of their “Underground Poker” show air Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST on the Discovery Channel.
The trailer of the pilot can be seen above. There doesn’t appear to be a video of the full episode available on YouTube or anywhere else on the Internet at this time.
The show centers on the poker pros searching American cities for underground poker games. Apparently, all the games, and hands, are real. In other words, not staged.
That doesn’t mean the documentary isn’t dramatized.
A re-run of the show is not on the weekly TV schedule for the Discovery Channel at this time. It’s unclear if the show will continue for any more episodes.
We’ll update you if the show airs again.
One poker pro expressed his skepticism that the show will continue.
@allenbari It was a pilot that didn't get picked up that Discovery is burning off, so you're safe for now
