Card Player has partnered with CarbonPoker to continue to bring you coverage of the most historic and prestigious Player of the Year race in poker for 2015.
Since its inception in 1997 the Card Player Player of the Year award has been a symbol of excellence and consistency in tournament poker. Some of the greatest names in the game have earned the POY title, including Daniel Negreanu (2004, 2013), T.J. Cloutier (1998, 2002) Men Nguyen (1997, 2001, 2003, 2005) and David Pham (2000, 2007).
During the mid-2000’s a couple of live circuit heavy hitters took the POY honors, including Michael Mizrachi (2006) and John Phan (2008).
In recent years the generation of players who climbed the ranks and built their skills online have also made their mark on the POY award, with recent champions including young guns like Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin (2009), Tom “kingsofcards” Marchese (2010) Ben “benba” Lamb (2011), Greg “gregy20723” Merson (2012) and most recently Daniel “mrGR33N13” Colman (2014).
